The New Arrivals at Ty Castell Guest House

Kylie Molly and Dolly are sisters and were purchased from a cattery in Neath in June 2006. The original idea was to buy one cat to patrol Ty Castell grounds, however when we went to see the kittens it was very difficult to separate them has they were obviously a very close group of sisters who loved and played with each other. So we had no choice we had to have all three.

At the same time a neighbor was looking for a kitten for us. We told her that the kitten must be all black. Anticipating this we left a note in our neighbors letter box (which she didn't see) saying that we had found some kittens and not to bother. A breakdown of communications was followed by a phone call and delivery of Billy the FOURTH kitten.

The three girls had been together for some weeks before Billy arrived and when Billy was introduced to his three lady companions you could almost see him smile, but there was to be a few fights first. This didn't last long before Billy was accepted as part of the pack.

The four now have their own home (Shed with tea & coffee making facilities) to them selves full of toys and soft furnishing for them to enjoy. They are not allowed in the Guest house but they have taken over the garden and adjacent fields. They are loved regularly but eat and sleep plenty. Very fussy eaters who want total hygiene.

The day came to let them loose outside after their injections and to our surprise they stayed close by and now keep in their group, Billy leading the way. We hope that you enjoy our new arrivals too, however we do acknowledge alleges and guests dislikes and respect our guests wishes.

2007 - Well our little kittens are no longer so, they are full grown cats who have been domineering the countryside for some time now. We have caught them playing ball with several dead moles and mice in the car park but they are still very cute.

They have completely won us dog lovers over and greet us every morning for coffee on the riverbank. Kylie likes coffee and porridge, Billy likes his tummy tickled, Dolly loves being cuddled and Molly stinks after rolling in Fox muck !

They have now found a way on the roof and into the upstairs bathroom window. We discovered this when we returned from shopping to see a roll of toilet paper unrolled on the roof but still attached to the toilet roll holder. So if you don't want company in the bath you know what not to do.

MOLLY has a black left eye as you look at her. Molly is always out late at night and likes rolling in muck. She did run away but came back. Molly and Dolly kiss each other regularly and often cuddle up on the jacuzzi. She has learnt how to cling on to the window ledge and pull herself ( a bit like Laura Croft) to the open window to get in the kitchen, however she has yet to get in and falls off the ledge at the last minute. She sleeps on the chairs in the garden and likes sitting on the garden gate post.

DOLLY has a white left eye as you look at her both Molly & Dolly are long haired. Dolly is first out for a cuddle each morning. to seek loads of attention. Dolly's recent attempt to skate on the frozen over pond failed as the ice cracked and was then left to climb what to her seemed like an iceberg to get out. Dolly is the faithful one and always cry's out when we go outdoors. She wants to be picked up and likes her neck rubbed. She eats a bit of food out of everyone else's tray first before claiming her own dish to herself.

KYLIE is Molly and Dolly's sister too, but she is short haired. Kylie can't be bothered with being picked up and cuddled and waits for a finger of tea or coffee, however she does like football and waits patiently for attention and walks away when you don't want her to. Sadly Kylie went missing many months ago now and is feared lost forever. Molly, Dolly & Billy miss her greatly and so do we. We hope that one day she will walk by and come down the river bank for her finger of coffee with the rest of the gang. Kylie where ever you are we all miss you and love you.

Billy is all black and likes his belly tickled. He joined the pack of girls a couple of weeks later. Billy was the smallest and was bullied by the girls, not any more he is the leader of the pack and fights playfully with all the girls but mainly has a thing for Kylie. He misses Kylie and now sits alone away from Molly and Dolly. He is very generous and shares his freshly caught local produce (mole or mouse) with our guests and digests them in full view of our guests whilst they have their dinner. Yum! Yum! Billy does his own thing these days but is never too far away.

Those of you that have been before know that we promote a "chill out" holiday at Ty Castell and the picture opposite says just that. Ty Castell's idealic setting is a wonderful place to visit and the best way to unwind is to sit outside and do nothing but watch the river drift towards Carmarthen Bay, read a book, have some wine or a welsh Cream Tea and enjoy some fabulous company on the riverbank. We look forward to seeing you soon ?
